after resize partition home very long time start system

Hello
my partitions
root:brtfs
home: xfs
not encrypted
I after resize home partition with media lives but now very long time show login screen (about 3min)
how to fix?
dose anyone have a comment?

Hi,

Yo can try two things to see why the system takes so long to start.

1- You can try to see what services take longer to boot.

systemd-analize blame

2.- You can look at the boot log to watch if there are errors.

journalctl -b

Hit Esc during boot and watch what is passing by. You probably will see where it takes time.

Thanks feliciano28
i use commend “journalctl -b” and i see error line

how to fix error?

I do not know what it is, but do you think it takes 3 mins to log that?

This is a printer error. I don’t use HPLIP and I don’t know if it is related to your problem. Can you, please, post a few nearest lines to the error? Are there other errors in boot log?

Have you tried to hit ‘Esc’ durng boot as hcvv suggested previously? Maybe, you can see the problem more clearly than in the boot log.

reboot system and press ESC key and found take long line

i think my swap partition have problem and not work hibernate for me

i think my swap and home partitions have problems and not work hibernate for me

Maybe the uuid for your swap and home partitions has changed with the resize. You can verify the uuids of your partitions with blkid

This is an example of the uuids in my machine:

lx01:~ # blkid
/dev/sda1: UUID="c7aa23c5-0ebc-4cf2-ab5a-2c4a5025faba" TYPE="ext2" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-01"
/dev/sda3: UUID="07a3c52c-1231-43ae-a125-ba6ae1fa6c11" TYPE="swap" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-03"
/dev/sda5: UUID="01808e90-10d9-47eb-8b6a-d1b78ef82aaa" UUID_SUB="4eefc3b3-1fc5-4cb2-a2f7-4813bdfd05a2" TYPE="btrfs" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-05"
/dev/sda6: UUID="95d7cbea-a6dc-44c3-9870-ceb11ece2b26" TYPE="xfs" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-06"
/dev/sda7: UUID="facdb9f8-d2ac-42d8-8f29-3ff555f0597d" TYPE="ext2" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-07"
/dev/sda8: UUID="xcquo6-gYx7-UmC5-d3Bz-611E-wxeN-vzBWPD" TYPE="LVM2_member" PARTUUID="accd5eaa-08"
/dev/mapper/vg_system-lv_root: UUID="685ebce1-0653-48df-802d-20be8ac83b5a" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3"
/dev/mapper/vg_system-lv_xen: UUID="b4fb9213-cd97-45da-b1d5-c85ab1d6ff51" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3"

You can find the uuid of your swap and home partition in the output of the blkid command and change it in the fstab file if it have changed.

Yes,it is true.
my uuid was broken after change uuid now speed up start system
Thank you

Thanka to all
solved take long time
but
my fstap line swap “UUID=f417e6ab-90bf-4705-adac-69a11daac64c swap swap defaults 0 0”
i have problem with swap partition i re-format partitions and mount and check uuid all true
and use “sudo swapon a” but not work hibernate

Did you format swap?? swap does not use any format. It is essentially a image of memory blocks.

Yes

ckm8:~> sudo swapon
root's password:
NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
/dev/sda5 partition 6G 0B -1

Are you sure f417e6ab-90bf-4705-adac-69a11daac64c is correct UUID? one character off will make it wrong. Also go to /dev/disk/by-uuid and see if that UUID is pointing to the correct /dev/sdX#

Your output does not prove that you did or did not format that partition. It must be marked as swap and and NOT formatted… You should be able to tell and perhaps correct in Yast-Partitions management section.

I check uuid with sudo blkid and fstab and /dev/disk/by-uuid all are true
and check Yast-Partitions management moint point swap and mounted

After resize, did you have changed resume=xxx kernel parameter (in /etc/default/grub) to point to the new uuid, and then generate the new grub config (with grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg) and rebooted? Did you have enough swap space?

It seems that you do not use the default openSUSE way of addressing partitions by-id, but choose for by-uuid. That has of course consequences of which you should be aware when you made the decision to go for by-uuid.

The by-uuid is not only in fstab, but also in the grub configuration (and elsewhere?).

BTW using swapon does not “format” but takes the subject into use as swap.

Thanks to all
Big Thanks feliciano28
after change resume=xxx kernel parameter and update (with grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg)
now works very well
