After removing KDE, GNOME DE crashes time to time

I originally installed tumbleweed with GNOME DE, but later on I installed KDE as well. I did not like very much KDE so decided to remove the KDE from YAST interface. After uninstalling now GNOME crashes time to time. There is something missing from end when I uninstalled the KDE.
Any help or guide line will appreciate.

What did you do to “remove” KDE?

It is rather easy to install KDE because it is a Pattern (well two Patterns). And a Pattern is a list of packages you most probably need or want when you want to use KDE. But part of those packages may already have been on your system at that moment in time. Thus removing all the packages that are listed in the Pattern is not a good idea because you then will remove also packages that were already there before you installed KDE.

OTOH, when you did something different, better tell us what you did.

Also, why did you decide to remove KDE? when you do not need it, do not use it. It takes only a small amount of disk space.

And of course a quick solution might be to just install the KDE Patterns again.

You are right, I uninstall from the package patterns. I will try to reinstall and see if it works.
One issue I was facing when I go to GNOME DE, my file explorer icons from KDE and when I switch to KDE my right click menu list from GNOME DE. It was weird. So I decided to remove the KDE package. I hope it make sense what I did.

Thanks for your reply.

I see e.g. in one of the KDE Patterns that Firefox is listed (not illogical). But one might want to use Firefox in Gnome, or not?

Then it would be better to ask help with that.

I reinstall KDE and same thing happening file explorer icon from KDE theme, don’t get it.

@rhussain If yo create a new test user and login the GNOME DE there, does it function as expected? This will confirm a $HOME issue or system issue.

I made another user and sure it does not reflect the KDE theme at all, which is awesome. So what should I do to fix the other user.

@rhussain So check down in the likes of ~/.config, ~/.cache and ~/.local for Plasma config files…

What to look for. Can you please guide me little bit.

Hi I don’t know I’m a Gnome user. Maybe peruse the new user directories and compare. If you log in to your normal user, then open another terminal and just su - test user name and use ls to compare.

here’s a start (one or two may not be applicable, but the rest are obvious):
