Hi
I borrowed the book SUSE linux 10 unleashed, and tried to install the system on my Fujitsu econel 100s2 server, but after i start it up and start the installantion via the the CD/DVD it says it can not find the cd to continue?
Does anyone know why it does that since it finds it before the installation startup?
It only runs until SUSE has tried to locate all the hardware.
Hi tzwebdotbiz,
Which version of SUSE are you using? If it’s an older copy/version it could be the kernel is having trouble with your CD SATA controler?
Either try installing SLES/SLED 10 sp2 (you can download it freely at the Novell site) or grab a openSUSE 11.0 copy at https://software.opensuse.org .
Hope that helps,
Wj

well, i tried the cd that was with the book, which is Version 10.2 as i remember, and that is the one that ends up saying it can not find the cd.
Now i have also tried the OPENSUSE 11 on a DVD, and it starts on it, and starts to install the Kernel as well, but then it ends up saying:
**Device friver not found: ‘MSCD001’
No valid CDROM device drivers selected
**
and then it goes on saying:
The IBM Personal system/2 mouse program
(C)copyright IBM Corp 1987
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1983-1987
Mouse is not attached
A:>
And then it stops there, it seams that it is somehow the same problem with all the installations, that the CDROM can not be found.
I am trying to instll it on a Fujitsu Siemens Primergy Econel 100s2 server, if that helps anything hope it does.

Hi
That to me would indicate you have a DOS disk in the floppy drive and
the BIOS is set to boot from that first rather than the CD/DVD?
Do you get the openSUSE screen?? If so try adding the option box (under
the menu items;
insmod=ide-generic

Tahnsk for the dvice, but it does not work, as i have no floppy in the system. I have though an USB key in it, but have also tried to remove this without luck.
i have also checked the Bios, but it starts at the CDROM as i hoped so i am not sure what to do, there is a feature int eh OPENSUSE 10 cd to load drivers from an USB device, but i am not sure how to use it, and what to load
