Installed successfully. When the login screen appeared afterwards it froze and was scrambled. Rebooted into failsafe mode and was able to login successfully to the gnome desktop at 1680x 1050 which is my native lcd resolution. The video card was recognized in Yast. I went to IRC help for suggestions and someone suggested I update nvidia drivers. I did this through the 1-click Yast method and it installed. I rebooted and now right before it gets to login it fails and goes to command line.

I am still able to login successfully through failsafe without issue. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot further or logs that might help? Or perhaps you realize what is going on, thank you!

Anyone have any suggestions? I am very new at linux and have no clue to how to proceed further.

I understand you installed the newest nvidia drivers, if that is so then could you post output of uname -r ?

Unfortunatelly if there are some issues with nVidia drivers we can’t much help it but to workaround the issues (proprietary drivers, no source).

I did attempt to install nvidia drivers to correct the original issue. I am unfamilar with linux commands but I will attempt to do as you ask after returning home from work. Thanks for the help.

I am asking about uname -r because you may have old kernel and new nvidia drivers which may not work unless you update the kernel.

Anyway, it is best to install the drivers the “hard way” (which is hard only the first time, next time it will be a piece of cake).
