Adobe Flash standalone player

I was happy to see it was a stadalone flash player in openSUSE, but when I click on the menu icon in the launcher it opens ut, but then crashes before I have done anything. Does anybody know why this is happening?

As this is proprietary software, most likely only Adobe could know.

P.S.

If this “standalone flashplayer” is some other application, then maybe some one else might know.

Without any further information, no adequate help will be possible.

Ok. I was a little curious about this player. I wasn’t aware it is solely a Adobe product. Flash is off course a Adobe product, but the stand alone player offered to linux users should be something working, not only a menu item.

Maybe this is Adobe’s way of contributing a very useful service to humanity.

As their flash-plugin is serious breeding box for zero day exploits and therefor endangering millions of users every day, making at least the stand alone application non-functional can be considered a humanitarian act.

You probably need to provide some information about what exactly you
installed in order for anyone to take a crack at helping. What package
did you install, and where did you obtain it from?

I installed this package via the Packman repository. It’s Adobe Flash. I don’t know if it was a separate package for the standalone player, but I don’t think so. See the two pictures in the link. One shows the menu item, and the other the program before it collapses. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=7450A099603B3FA!6961&authkey=!APWSI7LGS_KV5fI&ithint=folder%2c

Better use this site for uploading pictures: http://paste.opensuse.org/

It is one most here trust. Your site does not work for me and the address field contains something about Microsoft, which I do not trust of course.

I have used your preferred place for the pictures. The first shows the menu item: http://paste.opensuse.org/92118770 . The second shows the window of the program: http://paste.opensuse.org/52472412. One question you have asked about which package I have downloaded. It’s the clue here, but how do I search installed packages for flash related stuff?

I can see them now.

This question of course assumes that you know what you were doing while installing.

We do not even know what you normaly use for installing, but you could use YaST > Software > Software Management and the type “flash” in the Search field and Search. At right you could now try to indentify the package you installed, select it and then lower right, the Versions tab will show you what version you installed from what repository.

I had installed flash as I assumed, but this package also include standalone player. Here are the technical data from Yast:
