Adobe Flash Player

Hi,
i have a very annoying problem with the Adobe Flash Player. When i try to view a youtube video it plays without sound, it plays as fast as data is recieved, it refuses to play at all and all of this quite randomly and even sometimes it works as intended. I tried Konqueror, Opera and Firefox.
This “randomness” makes me mad, and i dont want to reboot everytime it happens (that makes it work as intended most of the time).
What else can i do to either make it work properly or “restart Flash Player only”?

Thanks for help.

Hi. Same problem here on two openSUSE 11.1 computers. One is 64bit the other 32bit. Sometimes flash works sometimes not. When its not working I’ve to reboot, too. I am stumped…

Hi,

Have you tried reinstalling it?

This happens to me sometimes as well. Usually reinstalling it does the trick.

Good Luck,

Ian

Go to adobe site, download flash player debug version. Before installing, find all copies on your system of libflashplayer.so and delete them.
Unpack downloaded flash player, but DO NOT INSTALL.
Find libflashplayer.so and copy it to /usr/lib/browser-plugins. Also, make backup of it.
Go to YaST or whatever package manager you use, and TABOO it. You must not update it ever.
Only update should be done manually.

Trust me, I am adobe flex developer… this is the only right way to avoid any problems.

Compiz can sometimes create issues when playing Flash videos. Perhaps try a different version of Compiz if you have it installed.

maybe your firefox installed add-on like flashblock or adblock plus.
try to disable them and restart firefox…

I had no sound for flash in firefox. After trying the sound fixes suggested in the forum the fix ended up being to reload flash player through YaST.

Cheers
