Hi,
I am using openSUSE 11.0. I wish to add the 11.0 installation dvd as a repo in addition to updates, packman, oss and non-oss. But as i go through yast > software repositories > add > dvd, i get the error:
Unable to save changes to the repository
configuration:
Details:
Repository: Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)
History:
Can’t copy /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000007/media: 1/media to /var/cache/zypp/raw/RepositoryjrPDq0
Can’t provide media: 1/media : Can’t copy /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000007/media: 1/media to /var/cache/zypp/raw/RepositoryjrPDq0
Try again?
Even if i try to edit this dvd repo, it keeps showing CD-ROM instead of DVD-ROM.
I need the installation dvd as i wish to add kde 3.5 packages; and i do not have unlimited net facilities.
Both of you are right. I had not given an alias to the repo and so zypper was not able to add the dvd repo. And i was not able to add the dvd through the gui as the dvd was faulty. But how could you be so confident so as to say that the dvd was faulty and that there was no problem with yast? I mean i thought that in such kind of problems one also supposes that there might be a bug…:\

If you have a enough space on the hard disk, you may want copy an image
to it and free the optical drive.
Because adding the DVD as a “repo” is one of the first things the installer does when you do an install from DVD. Since thousands of people must have successfully installed from DVD, including myself, there isn’t anything wrong with YaST. Those error messages suggest that the DVD could not be read and knowing how unreliable DVD±Rs can be, the conclusion was in favour of a bad DVD.
