Add-On CDs (optional)

I find in the download page the following Add-On CDs:

1)Extra Languages

2)NonOSS CD

Questions:

1)Will I need the Extra Languages CD in order to install in Italian (not for myself, for friends).

2)Is non-OSS software no longer included in the main DVD?

Thanks!

I suppose that when NON-OSS has it own CD, this is not on the DVD. Else it would be a useless exercise.

I have no doubt that when you switch on your network during install, you will have all those available even at initial install. Else you can of course add the repos imediatly after install and add via YaST (I never used the Languages extra CD in earlier releases, but loaded my language after install).

Thanks.
It is the first time, AFAIK, that non-OSS software isn’t on the main DVD, that is why I am puzzled.

Here are the footnotes from Software.openSUSE.org Note 3 seems to say that NON OSS software is included, or am I reading this wrong?

1The Addon CD contains packages with closed source or not OSI-compliant license.
2The Language Addon CD contains support for additional languages (not supported by the DVD) and can only be used together with the DVD.
3The DVD contains contains the language support and all packages, including Non-Open Source Software. The following languages are supported: English, Portuguese, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Chinese (Simpl. & Trad.), Japanese, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Finnish, Danish, Swedish, Dutch.

Thanks for you clear, satisfactory reply.
Still one doubt, though: I can’t find the footnotes from Software.openSUSE.org Note 3.
Thanks again.

There were some mistakes on the software.opensuse.org web page, yesterday. I don’t understand clearly what you meant. Are you finding that some of the informational links are dead?

If so can you do a copy link and paste it into here, so I can email the author of that page?

I mean that coopernut mentioned the the footnotes from Software.openSUSE.org, Note 3, but on that page I can’t find any footnotes. Thanks.
