AD 2008R2 authentication

I’m trying to get Suse 12.1 to authenticate against a 2008 R2 server. During install I entered windows domain but when I get to the point where I have to enter the domain the join fails. Windows machines join just fine so the domain is working properly.
I wonder if I need to add the role ‘Identity Management for UNIX’ on the AD server? If not, where should I start looking for the solution. The user I’m trying to authenticate is administrator.
For now if installed with a local user and hope to get this working from within Suse. If I could get this working I’d make some users really happy to be able to offer them a Suse desktop next to a windows one…

All help appreciated!

-=WELCOME=- new poster, but you found the wrong spot to ask about 12.1
since openSUSE 12.1 is not released yet, you should have posted this in
Pre-Release/Beta <http://tinyurl.com/2du7r4s>. Because that is the
place where your fellow 12.1 testers are.
