Acronis clone problems (OpenSuse 10.2)

Hi,

I manage 28 P4-Pcs in a school-net. Last week I made a new image with XP on the first partition, i created a second partition for data and the rest of the harddisk I reserved for OpenSuse.

The restoring of the acronis image worked fine (like it always did…) but this time I can’t boot Linux. The systems hangs at the moment the harddisk and the mountpoints are checked.

With older versions of SuSE this never happens…

What can I do? Isn’t it possible to clone any longer?

Could it be, that you have different partitioning on harddisk??

It’s the same Hardware for all Pcs. I clone the complete HDD through the network (samba).

OpenSuSE 10.3 (ups, it was not 10.2) hang with the message

“want me to fall back to /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_SamsungXYZ-part6”

Well, ist the same HDD on all Pcs, but the problem is the id, I guess…

problem solved…

open SuSE 10.3 uses the hdd id instead of /dev/sda

After changing it in /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst it works fine.
