acpi=off

Why am I stuck with this boot option. My system won’t boot without.

try to update you bios, that did wonders for me

I am running the latest BIOS available for my system (2008-10-23). Bought this system recently.

Albatron mITX KI690-AM2
AMD X2 64 4850e

Wondering if it might be fixed with a BIOS setting…

try pci=noacpi instead. That is a similar but less painful boot option.

unfortunatly that options doesn’t work for me. back to acpi=off

Solved the issue by putting ACPI setting to Suspend to Ram in my BIOS.

Now I need to get ridof edd=off :stuck_out_tongue:

You probably will not be able to remove edd=off, and that is not a problem. Edd is for the kernel to query the video device bios for supported framebuffer and other video parameters; the video bios gets this the display. However, often the monitor and/or video bios does not do this correctly. In that case, the kernel uses a different method to get what it needs.
