Acer, the company from Hell

Here is a review I wrote a few days ago. I think it’s something everyone should read. No one should have to experience what I did, so please share this with anyone thinking about buying something from Acer!

Review: Acer, Uncut

An early observation:
“So I bought my broken Aspire 7720G Gemstone laptop on the 18th of October,
2007 (1). I had looked forward to it for quite a while, and now that it
didn’t work I would have to wait at least a week before it was repaired.”

That’s disgusting. I’m pretty sure law in most European countries requires a
device, broken when bought, to be replaced instead of repaired.
Can be wrong of course.

Read the rest of the article.

Guess that’s one more unreliable company NOT to be mensionned when someone
asks about buying a laptop. That doesn’t leave many, actually.

Depends. I had a faulty drive in my Acer laptop and they fixed it within a few days without problems. So at least for Germany, I’d recommend Acer

All big companies are like this.

I’ve had an acer laptop for two years, and purchased two others for family and friends. All three are working just great.

Did you test them all?

Uwe

Are they? So which “not so big” company do you recommend to buy a laptop?

OK, but the original story was not about how good/bad their laptops work. It
was about what happens when you receive a defective machine and want it
replaced/repaired. (and to me repair of a broken new machine is not an
option)
