ACER S3: fan, backlight

hi all,
Im a new linux user…from yesterday and so reaaalllllly newbie…:wink:

I installed opensuse on my acer s3 but Ive two problems:

  1. fan run continuously really fast. I read on a ubuntu forum that its because the kernel, but i dont know how to upgrade it.

  2. i cant set backlight: i know i can solve adding apci_backlight=vendor on boot but I want to edit the menu.lst…but I dont know how…

any help will be really appreciated please :wink:

Open Yast → System → Bootloader and select the ntry you want to change
→ press edit

In the last field you can add the parameter to the optional boot parameters

About the other question I cannot comment.
