Acer Aspire 7720 s2ram problem and possible solution.

I am running openSUSE 11.1 on my Acer Aspire 7720.

The problem is that when returning for suspend to ram my laptop freezes. Only way out is a reboot by pressing, and holding down, the power button.

Have been doing a lot of reading and searching, and I think I might have come across the answer I am looking for. Problem is, I don’t know how to interpret it, or execute it on my laptop.

Anyone got the time to check out this link:Gmane – Mail To News And Back Again and help me figure out how to make these changes to my laptop?

There are no changes made there. To duplicate the results, enter the command

sudo s2ram -f -a 1 -m -v

Note that this is unlikely to work as the standard version of s2ram in openSUSE
11.1 does not appear to support all those options/switches.

Have you looked at http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram?

Thank you for your reply!
As you suggested it did not work. Have been studying the page you linked to, but I will continue testing.

Here is the output of “s2ram -n”

linux-u21g:/home/frodeSUSE # s2ram -n

An observation:
The laptop does not freeze until I use the touchpad or press any of the keys.

In other words it seems to work all the way up until I try to enter my password.

All the commands I have tested so far does not get me ass far as that before freezing.

I guess it’s a guessing game as to what command makes suspend to ram work on my laptop.?

When I find the command that makes my laptop suspend to ram correctly, how do I make it the standard way of suspending? Do I edit some sort of textfile somewhere on my system??
