Acer Aspire 5738ZG - can't use nvidia-drivers

hi,

I can’t for the life of me find out how to use the proprietary Nvidia drivers. I have tried the one click install as well as the repository way. every time I try either, X fails to start and I have to run sax2 -r -m 0=nv (0=vesa if I feel like a really low resolution that makes me want to carve out my eyes).

the computer has an nVidia G105M card, and I am (as mentioned) using the nv drivers, because the proprietary won’t actually work. X fails to start whenever they are enabled. and while the nv-drivers have the correct resolution and all, I need compositing.

helpz.

Please let me know if you’re running 32 or 64bit linux. I’ll guide you through it. The card can work, you just need the latest beta driver to be installed.

64-bit. ah. I thought that might be the solution. am I going to have to do this the “hard way”? or is there a “repo way” solution?

I don’t use openSUSE myself, so I don’t really know how you guys handle this type of stuff.
