Acer Aspire 5050 install help

Hi all, been a while but back again and need some help please!

I have an Acer Aspire 5050 notebook and have installed Opensuse 11.1

Had a problem with graphics (ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 chipset but working now), but have a problem with network/internet connections.

The Aspire 5050 has an Atheros AR5006EG wifi card built in, together with a on board realtek network adapter. I have tried to get either working but get nowhere.

I installed the OS on a clean hard disk, used defaults to install apart from changing the kernel option to no acpi. The install went OK till the final reboot, when I had to change the video settings to get the notebook to boot. I checked and both network cards have been detected and the wifi is using ath0 module. I then entered my wifi network settings but still wont connect. I even tried installing with a network cable connected directly to my router but still no joy :frowning:

Im completely lost now - its been quite some time since i used opensuse but am absolutely miffed with any form of windows.

Has anyone got an idea of how I can set preferably the Atheros wireless up? bear in mind i’m a bit lost with this.

Look at the stuff in the wireless forum.
