Accounting software suggestions

I’m looking for some accounting software for a small business. I don’t require a monster app which incorporates full ERP functionality. I’d prefer it to be native KDE4 rather than a gnome app if possible.

I tried installing Kmymoney4 from the packman repo but it wants to downgrade about 53 packages to kde4.3 versions which I do not really want to do.

Any other suggestions?

osFinancials

Another “funny” one…:

software.opensuse.org: Search Results , search for “money”…

Just looking at that but it runs under wine for Linux. I’d prefer a native Linux app if possible.

I did a webpin search but didn’t really come up with much that looked promising hence my request for suggestions.

If it is an option for you to upgrade to kde 4.5 then you will find a
package for kmymoney in the kde45 repository which should be compatible with
kde 4.5

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3This
update repo for kde is also available for your 11.2 installations.

Try YaST or the build service; I have KMyMoney 4.5 and kdepimlibs4.4.4 on my system. Earlier this year I found that the Packman builds were out of date; possibly they still are.

Well, it’s a gnome app, but I have been using gnucash for many years now under KDE (it runs well with KDE, no trace of “gnome-ish” to be seen). It is available as a SUSE package. It has an active mailing list giving good and friendly help. It is a PITA to compile yourself because of dependency hell. It fits all needs from primitive private “bookkeeping” to a small business solution.

It is not “multi-user” capable. And I did never use the gimmics like “aqbanking” or any of the advanced “business functions”. But for plain simple bookkeeping it is rock solid.

Hi,
I think you did not choose the right version of Kmymoney:
From packman: version 4.5-42.pm.42.1
I’m using it. works like a charm

That’s the version I tried and it wanted to downgrade a whole lot of packages. Perhaps the 11.3 version on Packman is different.

The versions I am looking at are through YAST. I also checked webpin. I found one version through webpin that wants to upgrade a whole lot of kde dependencies to version 4.5 from 4.4. It seems that I’ll either have to upgrade KDE to 4.5 or upgrade oS to 11.3 from 11.2.

I’ll check out gnucash too.

I just installed Open Suse 11.4 …coming from Windows 7 and looking for a way to install Os Financials…anybody there to help me with that ?
Do not get Os Financials installed:)

Os Financials is a Windows program; so you will first need to install wine ( see Wine - openSUSE) and then install Os Financials and see if it will work; lots of Windows programs will run under wine but it is not guaranteed.

Looks like it might be supported/supportable under WINE - see

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=8024

for some notes on it.

It also looks like it’s supported (perhaps better) under Codeweavers’
Crossover Office version of WINE. See:

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=8823

for info on that option.
