Hi:
I think I might have erased the contents of my /boot directory trying to create a bootable system image… is there a way to confirm this and eventually revert to previous state? Thanks!

You should be able to view the contents of the /boot folder with any file manager. If it does not contain any kernel files (start with vmlinuz and initrd) or if there is no grub folder, you could be in trouble when you reboot. While still running, back up all personnel files such as mail, documents, music, data files, bookmarks & downloads. Next, find or download the matching openSUSE boot disk and then follow this guide.

confirm it being erased (or not) by looking inside /boot with any
‘file manager’ having root powers…
and, revert to the previous state by restoring from the most recent,
pre-goof, backup…
