Hi
Just like to say I really appreciated the stickies on top as well as reading a lot of other helpful posts. I liked that fact a lot of people wrote down their solutions and not just the questions posed. I thought I’d do the same, hence the title
For those using Broadcom 4313.
I enabled all community repos that was related to what I like and my hardware. Almost all in fact so which repo provides the broadcom packages I don’t know.
However if you have this wireless adapter follow the stickies to ensure that it is indeed is listed with either the /sbin/lspci or /usr/usb/lsusb (mine is pci so…)
You should see it listed there with Network Controller Broad… BCM4313 802.11b/g in it somewhere. Do a rpm -qa | grep broadcom in a konsole or use Yast2=>Software Management to see if you have any broadcom packages installed. Hopefully it will list none, this means you have a simple solution, mine in fact.
Just install the b43-firmware, b43-fwcutter, broadcom-wl and the broadcom-wl-kmp-module you use. 4 packages in total. If you are missing any of them, that might be the problem?
Reboot and it should work, did for me at least.
A small cave-at, I’m no expert by any means so I might be wrong but it certainly made it work for me.
For me this was all that was really needed to make it work nicely. The stickies were very useful to find out the units name and how to use it. I wouldn’t say it solved the problem as such but they certainly help to get me going in the right direction, cudos to the authors of them
