i installed Leap 42. To me it seems like it is not based on Server capabilities. Is there any other version of Opensuse to make a domain controller with a file server?

When doing the install, what did you choose?
What makes you think something is “based on Server capabilities” or not?
If it’s merely Samba, add the Samba packages.

I think Leap should be able to do that, or else Tumbleweed probably can.
I haven’t tried either, but I use a lot of other server applications on
both and openSUSE is definitely up to the task. During the installation
is a large section of Patterns that can be chosen to setup the server for
this service or that, and most of them are geared toward server purposes,
such as Web server, File server, etc.

Good luck.

My idea is to deploy this server as ;
- DNS server
- Domain controller
- File server
- DHCP server
- OPENVPN bridge.
is it possible to do it. if yes can you send me a link of release notes where i can follow those steps to deploy the server. My previous effort was unsuccessful with opensuse. thanks.
All the above can be done. Most are samba functions that can be set up in Yast
Exactly. During the install, choose the software packages for those
purposes. The install is not going to, by default, install GiBs of crap
that you do not need, so it’s up to you to choose to install it. When
presented with the summary of software (just before files start going to
the disk), customize the options. Click on ‘Details’ and choose the
patterns, or search for packages, desired. It will handle dependencies
and such for you, and once the install is done you can configure it
however you like.

You can easily install those network services by selecting those Patterns for installation either during initial install or later using YAST Software Management or zypper. If you use YAST, you can also browse your package options in tree form (There can be multiple apps to choose from for certain services, like webserver, ftp, database servers, mail services, etc).
Unlike some distros like CentOS which present those options prominently during install (likely because CentOS is not targeting Desktop use as heavily), openSUSE doesn’t try to list the multitude of possible server roles although they’re all available from SMB to large network use.
