Hello,
I’m using opensuse 11.4 64bit.
Whenever skype makes a sound (a notification, etc.) applications like amarok, kaffeine stops playing and resumes playing again when skype makes another sound. At first I didn’t know what’s causing amarok to pause/resume on it’s own then I figured out it’s skype’s notication when a contact goes off/on line.
I couldn’t open a link from skype chat. Sometimes when I keep on clicking a link skype crashses.
I couldn’t receive files. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10358832/snapshot1.png
I already googled for answers but I didn’t get any relevant results.
Regards,
mvalviar

you may likely find more than one opinion on this problem…
i do not have the problem you describe…so, it is possible to find a
smile here…
first, you could turn off the skype notification and maybe that is the
best thing for you to do–i do not know!
but, i solved a lot of sound problems by not installing
PulseAudio–others will say that you should leave PulseAudio installed
and turned on…consider what they say, because if you move on my ‘fix’
you might get mad about the results…before doing more than reading,
read my caveat, below

Ok I solved the pulse/phonon issue by removing pulseaudio. I still need help with the others.

you mean your file transfer problem?
to where are you trying to save the file? do you get the chance to pick
a spot in (say) your Documents, or Downloads, or ???

The default location is ~. This is the default under preferences. I don’t get to those it when a contact offers me a file transfer. The download proceeds when I accept the transfer then ends with an error (see screenshot).
The other things is the links. I couldn’t open the links I click on the chat window.

i tried to find how mine is set up and couldn’t find a default setting
in the Skype setup area…and anyway i don’t have a “Preferences” in my
Skype version 2.1.0.81 menu, what version is yours?
so, i think i would set the default file save location as
~/Downloads
and see if then the transfer will complete…

is there a place in your skype to set the desired browser to handle the
link?
