My fresh opensuse 15.1 installation hangs on shutdown, the last message is “reached target shutdown”. How to debug and fix this problem? In my previous installation (42.3) everything was fast and smooth :’(
Hi,
I have this since upgrade to 15.0 from time to time. Eventually, the system will shutdown, but I don’t have a clue yet what is causing that. You may try the steps suggested in this thread, I believe there are several other threads in this forum related to this issue. If you have figured that out I’d be glad if you updated this post.
Regards,
Eugen
A possibly similar thread here too: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/536145-OpenSuSE-Leap-15-1-shutdown-reboot-delay-of-90-seconds?p=2903790#post2903790
Thank you for quick responses and the pointers, one of the threads helped:
I am using ext4 with a flat partition setup, not the default lvm and btrfs. After removing btrfs- and lvm-related packages, the shutdown is now fast as it should be, this solved the problem:
sudo zypper rm btrfsmaintenance btrfsprogs btrfsprogs-udev-rules libbtrfs0 lvm2
