Hello, my fellow *NIX users.
After months of hopping between distributions, I think I might have found the perfect distribution to use, in the form of the renowned openSUSE, most of the users I’ve heard are very content, and I’d like to join the crowd.
However, much to my dismay, I rely on a Linksys WUSB54GC v3 wireless card to obtain Internet access because my HP Pavilion a6410t lacks an ethernet connection.
I’ve made the mistake of installing straight to the hard disk, after a few minutes of fiddling around with the operating system, and I accidentally deleted my installation of Ubuntu 11.10 due to my lack of experience with the openSUSE partitioner (thankfully Windows Skydrive and Ubuntu One saved my multiple Java and Android projects that I’ve been working on.). I’ve also found that my wireless card didn’t work (after a few minutes of sifting through multiple posts on the Linux page on Facebook, I found out openSUSE doesn’t natively support my wireless card because it’s a part of the Ralink RT2870 chipset.)
Now, I’ve done a bit of research (not much, but as much as I could do in my free time.). However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how I can make my wireless card connect to the internet. I’ve downloaded the rpm of the kernel-firmware package so I can install the package remotely and I saved it on my sister’s MacBook.
Now what other steps do I need to take in order to:
a) Dual-boot between Ubuntu 11.10 and openSUSE 12.1
b) Get my wireless card to work
