A couple of things on 11.2

I recently had a hard drive crash, not on the Suse 11.2 but on the Windows 7 side(Separate Drives). After I got the Windows Hard Drive replaced, and reloaded Windows 7, found out that my numberlock does not come on when Suse 11.2 boots and Suse boots not with the GUI, but like it is in Command-Line boot (Text) instead of Graphics mode. Checked editor for YAST, numberlock was set for Bios, tried using the YES, and it didn’t make a difference on boot, I have to manually click the numberlock key to get access to numberpad. On the TEXT boot, I have no idea where to look. Any ideas?

So this numlock issue, is it new? I mean, since you had to re-do windows?
My numlock is on too, I thought nothing of it.
I’ll see if I can find anything…

If you’re using KDE you could check Configure Desktop>Keyboard & Mouse.

well, if you are booting to a black screen and your numlock is not
working like it used to i expect your drive crash (somehow) damaged
your openSUSE system…maybe you were booted to openSUSE when the
crash occurred (?)…at any rate, the proof that at least two thingS
in the system changed (somehow) is evident…

i think i’d put in your openSUSE 11.2 install disk and do this
http://tinyurl.com/yajm2aq--to make sure that new big scratch and all
those finger prints are ok to still use

and then, if the disk returns ZERO errors, i’d then use the disk again
and select “Repair Installed System” (just above the previously
highlighted “Check Installation Media”)…

and, as you select that cross your fingers, because there is no
guarantee that this gonna work for you…

good luck, if that does not fix it: post again

DenverD - your tinyurl does not work when i clicked on it… redirects to an error page.

TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL

that is because the wiki software wasn’t smart enough to know that i
typed a URL and then continued my sentence–by using two dashes…

the URL is http://tinyurl.com/yajm2aq

As denverD suggests, is it a problem booting into Text mode instead of Graphics mode? That seems to be the bigger problem, and if you need help with that

Do you see any error messages

tail -n 100 /var/log/messages
tail -n 100 /var/log/warn
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I like to run a file system chk after crashes

sudo shutdown -Fr now

to clean up misplaced inodes.
