a alarm function within the clock - doable?

						hello dear linux-experts

i run opensuse linux and i want to have a alarm function within the clock

is this possible?

The alarm function shall cause the system to generate a Alarm signal - to wake me up

how to do this - is there any similar function within the kde-system?

love to hear from you

btw - is kalarm a plasmoid - thing - in other words can i find it a t the miniprogrammes

love to hear from you

Maybe kalarm?

Hi Dilbert,

There is also a Plasma miniprogram you can add to your desktop:

https://github.com/F1ash/kde-plasma-alarm-clock

I just added it. Not tried, yet.

CU

KAlarm can do both and more (f.e. run a command, send an EMail).

btw - is kalarm a plasmoid - thing - in other words can i find it a t the miniprogrammes

No, it’s a normal application that runs in the background and creates an icon in the system tray.
You can find it in the start menu (Utilities->Time), but I’m not sure if it’s installed by default. It’s in the package “kalarm” and available in the standard OSS repo though.

Just tried that Plasma Alarm Clock. Very easy to use, did work, but doesn’t play mp3. The filter in search dialogue is called “sound”. I suppose it is looking for .wav?
kalarm is definitely more powerful.

I’ve always just used the “at” command to play a sound file at a
specified time. For repeating alarms, a cron job.
