900 Mhz processor + 2gb ram sufficient for KDE version?

Hi,

Being a fan of KDE, I would rather put the KDE version of OpenSUSE 11.1 on my little Eee PC 701 as well. The processor is a Celeron M 900 Mhz and I recently upgraded the RAM to 2gb (original was 512mb). I know from experience that Gnome runs excellently, but are these specs sufficient for the smooth running of KDE (I do not intend to enable the desktop effects)? Anyone with experience of OpenSUSE KDE on this specific EeePC or another mini laptop with similar specs?

Sysreqs - openSUSE

I have the same pc but equipped with 1gb ram. I can confirm that os11.1 with Kde3.5 runs smootly. I decided not to try Kde4 because the version shipped with os11.1 to me is not very stable and i did not want to follow all it’s upgrades on this machine.

There you go - Much more helpful info than mine.

Thank you to you both!

Athlon 700 mhz and 512 mb ram here! It takes a lot of time to open openoffice but overall I’m still hrotfl! happy with this machine!
