Is this normal? I have a total of 4GB ram, using openSUSE 11.1 x86_64.
With only pidgin and firefox open, it is using 885MB. 0 swap is used, is
this the way it’s supposed to be? Will it move some stuff to swap if it
needs more RAM?
Everything is 100% responsive so that’s not a problem, I was just a bit
worried.

Sounds fine. Linux will have loads of RAM in cache. With 4GB, swap will
seldom see action. All sounds good to me.

What’s the point in having 4GB of RAM if the system’s not going to use
it
