I’m using the radeonhd driver for my x1650 pro agp card but im not sure if it’s normal to get 78 fps. I use my pc to watch movies and it’s very slow when i try to watch them in full screen.
Are you sure your driver is correctly installed?
/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Movies are shown at 25 fps. Anything more is a waste of resources.

Well most things are encoded at 29-30 fps. This seems to be limit at which I start noticing a slowdown in first person shooters as well.
But indeed if you’re watching a movie and it’s set to 78fps it’s just wasting precious resources… slowing the whole thing down in the end.
But where exactly are you getting the fps measurement from? If it’s the movie player I’d say the file has been encoded wrong.
