4K Screen Troubles

The initial install went great as the resolution was 1080p, but when I rebooted everything broke. Nouvea drivers was unable to handle the 4k resolution which it tried to do. After I installed the proprietary Nvidia drivers from command line, all the fonts was too small to see as the DPI was messed up. I was forced to change resolution back down to 1080p and still had to force DPI in desktop settings in order to see things. Is anyone else having this problem with HiDPI monitors? I don’t game on 4k so I am stay on 1080p anyway, but these issues could easily be resolved by defaulting to a resolution no greater than 1080p on the initial install and have a force DPI for a consistent look.

BTW, I also had to force DPI on SDDM in order to see but I couldn’t restart or shutdown as it seemed to increase the entire UI beyond the screen displayed.

See what xrandar has to say.

You can change the DPI in the desktop. Which one??

Initial boot defaults to BIOS settings and uses one of the fall back drivers which do not support any of the high res options but does support almost all hardware.

Unfortunately initial boot after install was 4k which is why I had all the problems. No idea on why that was. I am using KDE5. I already fixed it, but I had to use tty to install the nvidia drivers and then force DPI. I never did get a consistent look on 4k. I reverted back to 1080p which is the resolution I do my gaming on anyway. I was posting this to see if anyone had these problems and what they did to fix HiDPI on KDE5 or Nouveau.

I meant grub as the initial boot. Things change when the X stack starts and the monitor res is determined.
