Yesterday I upgraded my desktop running 13.2 with an older ATI HD6950e6 to 42.1
And I had to realize, that only 4 monitors ca be activated. If i plug in screen 5 and 6 it does not work any more, won’t even load.
Hi
Was that with the radeon driver of the fglrx one? I’m assuming your using the display port for the six screens?
The FGLRX is uselsess for HD6950 (only two monitors allowed), stupid on the HD7970e6 (only 5 out of 6 can be used).
This HD6950e6 card has 4 DP port and 2 HDMI ports, at the moment I am only using the 4 DP ports.
Yesterday there was an update and now (KDE), I need to position
DP0 DP1
DP2 DP3
before it was also
DP2 DP3
DP0 DP1
but this not working any more, so I tried LXDE.
LXDE is shipped LXRandR 0.3.0 which is useless with in arranging monitors.
recommend:
sudo zypper install arandr
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/MultiDisplay
arandr allows to position the monitors freely and I can use all six. But, I don’t really like LXDE.
Gnome won’t start at all.
XFCE is also working.
So something broke with KDE and GNOME
Update: Since yesterday’s updates, XFCE stopped being usable. After 3-4 minutes the system will freeze and needs a hard reset.
Now I am left with LXDE
