3M Microtouch not working

I can’t make my 3M microutouch input work. I tried:

  • the internal microtouch driver installs fine, but does not react to any touch

  • the ‘legacy’ driver (5.64) from 3M does not compile

  • the current driver (MT7.1) installs but gives the following error in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
