3D video problem

Hi everybody,
I have some problems enjoying my 3D video card. Some applications (like 3D games, or even Google Earth) don’t behave like they are using the 3D functionallity.
I have a laptop, HP Pavillion dv5-1235la, with an ATI Radeon HD 3450 and openSuse 11.1

If someone could help me, I’ll appreciate it very much!

Thanks in advance!

I wonder which graphics driver your using?

What is the output of this command

glxinfo |grep direct

The output of the ‘glxinfo |grep direct’ command is:

direct rendering: Yes

On the other hand, the output of ‘grep -i Driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf’ command is:

  Driver "kbd"
  Driver "mouse"
  Driver "synaptics"
  Driver "radeonhd"

and the output of ‘lspci | grep -i VGA’ command is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series

Thank you for answer so fast!

Beto.

Have a read of this thread.

I think you’d be better off using the proprietary driver if you want 3D performance. The open source radeonhd driver capability is limited.
