32bit: no internet after update

hi,

updated from:
Kernel: 4.15.1-1-default i686 bits: 32
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.12.0
Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20180209

to:
Kernel: 4.15.2-1-default i686 bits: 32
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.12.0
Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20180213

now internet connection not possible,
it appears to connect, and can ping the router,
but no external web pages accessible

thereafter any attempt to do anything brings the message
“plasma error
unable to create io-slave”

any suggestions?

before attempting an internet connection all
appears to work normally: dolphin, libreoffice, vts, …

cheers

Try forcing recreation of /etc/resolv.conf :

su
rm /etc/resolv.conf
rcnetwork restart

Appreciate the fast reply.

your suggestion worked! thanks the os is now back to normal.

hi,

fixed, no, only partially

the rebuild of /etc/resolv.conf file allows access to all webpages,
but the same problem now occurs when when the network is disconnected,
after which the only option is to switch-off by depressing the on button for 10 seconds

no vts are accessible, and plasma is not functional anymore

but at least now after the initial network selection, zypper and yast can access the repos

cheers
