i like that! you couldn’t get wifi to work but came back and tried
again–good on you.

as said, you are welcome here…but, in the future please put only one
problem in each new thread, and give each thread a descriptive
subject…that is so the helpers here can see what the thread is about
and don’t have to look in if they know they can not help…see, here
we all are volunteer users, helping other users…help me save my time
by giving a good subject, and i can help more…

impossible to tell what went wrong. perhaps the install went bad…how
did you install them? in openSUSE it is always best to install from
standard openSUSE repos using either YaST (in your main menu) Software
Management or zypper…for example, if i were to install GnuCash, i
would open YaST, and when it has initialized i would highlight (on the
left) “Software” and then on the right “Software Management”, then when
that second pane is initialized i would type GnuCash [careful! you typed
above “gnu cash” which YaST will fail to find, because it is one word!]
into the search blank, and then click the “Search” button…in a few
moments the pane on the right would populate and i would click “gnucash
Personal Finance Manager”…and, YaST would automatically select other
things i either must have or should have (like the Documentation!) and
then i would click the “Accept” button and WAIT for YaST to do all the
downloading, unpacking, and installing work…
then, when that was finished i would open the main menu and type into
the search block there “gnucash” and i’d expect to very soon see an icon
to click GnuCash to life…
is that what you did? if not, try it now…
> 2) I am unable to install and use Java Run Time Environment& Codecs
openSUSE 12.1 is default installed with openJDK, a free and open source
software implementation of Java which includes a Run Time Environment
and browser plug in…you can check to make sure it is installed by
opening YaST > Software Management, typing in java and see if you don’t
find it with checkmarks already in the boxes next to those packages…
now, if the open version is not working for you then you can install
SUN’s version…but, you need to start a new thread…or better yet,
search the forum for how to do that in openSUSE 12.1(with google is the
easiest, if you use the site specifier “site:forums.opensuse.org”
switch, like http://tinyurl.com/6pmglnj

do not put your private email address in your post here…everyone
should answer you here in the forum…that way, folks with the same
problem can use Google to find the problem and solution, and not have to
wait on a helper!
