Just 2 annoying issues I am having.

1 - when I move the mouse to the top left it shows the 4 desktops. But I have switched it to 2 desktops, plus I also undid the screen edge section in personnel settings. How do I turn this ANNOYING feature off, as I have the tradition menu there & makes life difficult.

2 - It locks the desktop to reenter the password after 5 minutes. I turned the screen-saver off & unchecked the lock desktop setting in there also.

I tried to search for these, but ever time I did it would tell me it was to generic of a search.

  1. I think you may have missed one step on the screen edges thing. So, we go menu / Personnel Settings / General Tab / Look & Feel Section / Desktop / Screen Edges / Active Screen Edge Action. Place your mouse pointer on the top left block of the monitor / Select it and pick, No Action. This should stop your first problem.

  2. There are a couple of places to look, Power Settings & Screen Saver. First lets go Screen Saver. So, we go menu / Personnel Settings / General Tab / Look & Feel Section / Desktop / Screen Saver / Settings & make sure that Require Password to Stop is Not checked. Next lets go menu / Personnel Settings /Advanced Tab / Power Management / General Settings and make sure the “Let Powerdevel Manage Power Settings is checked”. Notice the Profile you use under normal conditions such as “Performance” when plugged in. Go to the Edit Profiles and select the one you normally use. On the Actions Tab, make sure ever function says Do Nothing. Go to the Screen Tab and uncheck “Enable display Power Management”.

Lets give these a try and let me know what you found there.

Sorry to hear about that, that it did not fix your problem and not because you are using Gnome. lol!

I guess I have not looked at Personnel Settings in Gnome and was not aware it was the same. None the less, it is a good idea to post the Desktop Type & Version as well as your openSUSE version in any message that you post here. Good luck in finding your problem, with your desktop of course…

As I see it was your first post, may I suggest you try to be more specific in the subject next time? We all have (at least) 2 issues here(!) :wink:

Seeing that you are new here: WELCOME.

That said, I have a few remarks that I hope will help you in general in these Forums (when not on other forums and elsewhere in this world where crystal balls and clairvoyance are very scarce indeed).

Please make a thread title such that it is clear what the problem is about. This will lure peple who know something about your subject to look into it while at the same time others can go elsewere to spend their time. In short, you must advertise your problem such that you get the right people with the right answer.

Do not put two problems/questions in one thread because
a) it will be difficult to make a telling title then (as explained above);
b) answers will mix helter skelter through the thread and in the end nobody will understand any more what is what.

And of course, allways tell what software and level you use. It saves time (we do not have to ask) and misunderstandings.
