2 errors after update

Ok, after my adventure whit the libreoffice problem at work (that ended up on reinstalling the system), i decided it was time to pass my home computer to tumbleweed as well (specially whit all this new fuzz about the future of opensuse)

everything went well or i was able to solve it except for 2 errors

1 - Amarok says that his database returned the following errors:
GREPME MySQLe query failed! (2000) on init

I even tried to reinstall but it didn’t solve the problem :frowning:

2 - when i try to check for updates it returns 1 conflict! it says that:

libqca2-2.0.3-3.1.2.x86_64 requires libqt4 = 4.7.4 but that can’t be solved

does anyone have any idea on how to solve this???

would be much appreciated!!!

Thank you so much to everyone (once again)

Use Yast software management. And uninstall Apper. Don’t use it (yet).

The amarok error is due to the update mysql version. Downgrade mysql to the stock distro version.
In Software Management, search for mysql. The packages “libmysql*” and “mysql-community*” should be downgaded to 5.5.16 versions.

libqca2-2.0.3-3.1.2.x86_64 requires libqt4 = 4.7.4 but that can’t be solved

You probably need to keep the old version

Hi, thanks for both replies.

I had Apper installed but never use it (now removed). I came to suse in version 9.* and always used Yast Software management and still keep that way  It’s the best tool for the job!

Anyway, i still have the

"libqca2-2.0.3-3.1.2.x86_64 requires libqt4 = 4.7.4 but that can’t be solved" error and the solution presented is to downgrade (from what i understand) the all kde to 4.7 (and the remove of a serie of software, such as Kdenlive, for example.

Any other solution for this?!

(Amarok is solved, thanks!)

Amarok is solved, I see.
But I wonder if you use the packman amarok or the openSUSE standard
amarok, does the version of liqqca2 (and hence libqt4) change, providing
a relaxing of the conflict.

So which version of amarok are you using and details like from this:
zypper se -s -i amarok

[just a thought, not necessarily a recommendadtion]

I have libqca2-2.0.3-24.2-x86_64 from the KDE R48 Repo on my main box, but it’s not tumbleweed
Let me go check a kde tumbleweed install

All I do is:

zypper dup

But overall I have

KDE: 4.8.4 (4.8.4) “release 7”

@swerdna

well , what i get from your command is:

S | Nome | Tipo | Versão | Arch | Repositório
–±------------±-------±----------±-------±------------------
i | amarok | pacote | 2.5.0-6.2 | x86_64 | Packman
i | amarok | pacote | 2.5.0-6.2 | x86_64 | Packman Repository
i | amarok-lang | pacote | 2.5.0-6.2 | noarch | Packman
i | amarok-lang | pacote | 2.5.0-6.2 | noarch | Packman Repository

So I suppose i have the Packman version… What do you suggest?

I too have that version of KDE. So, should i “zypper dup” it?

If you use Tumbleweed - Yes

Your listing confuses me, duplicates??? Strange. So could you list your
repos please with this command: zypper lr -d

Furthermore, the version 2.5.0-6.2 is in the openSUSE 12.1 Packman repo.
Whereas the Amarok available to me is 2.5.0-6.3 from the different
Packman Tumbleweed repo.

So if you are using Tumbleweed with the openSUSE 12.1 Packman repo, that
is the wrong repo, and you will have a 95% chance of generating
dependency issues.

And so you should chenge to the correct repos and then try to “zypper
dup”. The way to create and maintain Tumbleweed is found on the
Tumbleweed page in the wiki and also on this link:

I’m sorry for taking so long, but i’ve not been at my computer in the last few days. :frowning:

I’m really out of ideas :frowning:

I have the same KDE version as you. I have a dirrerent libqca2:
> john@tumbleweed121:~> rpm -qa | grep libqca2
> libqca2-2.0.3-1.6.x86_64
Mine comes from repo Tumbleweed
You have libqca2-2.0.3-3.1.2.x86_64 from openSUSE Current repo

About 400 dependencies come from that, which is why the attempt to drag
you to 12.1 away from Tumbleweed.

By the way, are you using Nvidia drivers from the RPM from
ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.1/?

Regards

Now you left me confused… should i change the repos to thumbleweed!!! What’s the diference between both?!

well, i was using it before the change to tumbleweed, so i suppose i’m still using them? should i change to an open driver?

thanks

well, i was using it before the change to tumbleweed, so i suppose i’m still using them? should i change to an open driver?

You can’t use the 12.1 nvidia repo in tumbleweed
You need to install it manually

ok, but ain’t there an open driver supported by tumbleweed to substitute the nvidea’s proprietary one?

Sure - But you’d have to be sure to remove the old nvidia driver from what was 12.1, because I’m pretty sure it’s remaining will cause problems.

Well, it looks like I’m already using the Open version of the driver (nouveau). Anyway, I still have that problem whit the libqca2 and i still have no clue on how to solve it. Any hint?!

Thanks
