13.2 RC1: pavucontrol fixed but not in repo

pavucontrol crashes in 13.2 RC1. The bug has been reported in many places and a fix exists. It has also been accepted to 13.2 https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:13.2/pavucontrol as https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/256844 15 days ago.

However, zypper does not offer the new version. According to https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/openSUSE:13.2/pavucontrol?repository=standard the fixed version is 2.0-4.2.1 but if I follow the download link only 2.0-4.1.4 is available. That’s what I have installed. Could that be by design because of some repo freeze/switchover before the final 13.2 becomes available? Or is it a real problem?

Anyway, I manually installed the version from the request https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/GNOME:Apps/pavucontrol?repository=openSUSE_13.2 (it requires accepting a vendor change). Works!

I have pavucontrol-2.0-5.1 with my zypper dup today using http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss. I expect it to make it into 13.2.

I’ll give the Dev Team their last few days to clean everything up and present us with a nice clean OS; in the meantime though, it’s fun poking around;)

Have fun!

Yeah, I have not changed my repo definitions. So I don’t have factory, it was not in the RC. I’d guess that that all changes factory until a certain cutoff day will go to 13.2. Quick googling did not result in any hits what that date would have been (my guess is it must be over).

13.2 has been branched off Factory about two months ago already (before the first Beta).
After that point, changes to Factory were still copied over to the 13.2 repo as well though if they made sense for 13.2, until a few days ago.

Quick googling did not result in any hits what that date would have been (my guess is it must be over).

Yes.
13.2 GM has been published today, there is no change at all possible any more.

Your fix should be part of the included package though, so just update your system with “zypper dup” or “zypper up” or your desktop’s updater. (“zypper patch” or YaST->Online Update will not work)

Ah that’s a long time ago, didn’t know that.

Anyway, today zypper offers me 729 updates. Obviously the 13.2 repos have received many updates, which have been hold back for some time.

Also pavucontrol 2.0-4.2.1 is available. Howeverm I have to force the downgrade from 2.0-22.1 and accept the vendor change back to OpenSUSE. That’s of course fully expected, because the numbering in in the Gnome Apps project where I took my manually installed version from is different.

pavucontrol works fine in 13.2 (using x64 kde)
