13.2 hangs when upgrading from 13.1 with DVD; safe to try install?

Before upgrading to 13.2 I did an on-line update of 13.1. Burned a DVD from the 64-bit ISO file downloaded today (build 0051).
On restart, chose “upgrade” rather than “new install”. Chose the partition to update, then “next”.
Now looking at a frozen screen headed “Reading List of Online Repositories” at
→ Check network conig

  • Download List of online repositories

Dialog box says “Network not configured. Online sources… like to configure it?” Yes/No
Mouse cursor moves but clicking on any button has no effect. CTL-ALT-DEL does nothing. Reset the computer manually (AMDAthlion II).

Checking installation media: (kernel 3.16.6-2) “no errors found” OK rebooted. Started installation, manually rebooted.
Selected upgrade from boot options page. Booting sees Enet device. Chose “Next” at Lic Agrmnt. Downloaded something that went past too fast to read. Selected partition /dev/sda1 to update. Mounted partitions. “Net not config’d” again, frozen.

Is it safe to try the “Install” option?

I don’t know what the success rate of the upgrade option in the YaST installer is, but I’ve always chosen to install and not upgrade. You could have added the 13.2 repos in YaST (replacing all the 13.1 repos) and ran the command:

zypper dup --from reponame

rather than going through the hassel of downloading an ISO and attempting an upgrade with the YaST installer. Maybe other people here can specify whether or not the upgrade option is supposed to work without a hitch, but my guess would be that it doesn’t.
