13.1 NVIDIA version down grade???

Just got an apper notice that there are 2 new NVIDIA packages (out of 5 G03) But there was a problem with one package not available. Going to Yast I see

I have installed version 340.65-36.1 but new package are showing 340.65-32.1
The 2 kmp packages is what apper want to install show 340.65_k3.11.6_4-32.1 installed current is 340.65_k3.11.6_4-36.1

WTF

I noticed that with the 304.125 (G02) driver. I don’t think it is really a downgrade. It’s just a recompile, with the same version but a different compilation number.

I used Yast Software Management, selected the “Repositories” view, selected the “Nvidia” repository. Then I did an unconditional update on everything that I have installed from there.

I’m not sure, but I think this was a bug fix.

The update from 304.123 to 304.125 had a vendor change. I think today’s update was to change the vendor back to what it had always been.

In any case, the system seems to be fine and rebooted just fine. The graphics is fine.

For people who did not update a few days ago (because of the mismatched vendor), this will probably just fix everything. For those who did manually update and switch vendor – they will now need to do that again.

The maintainers do a fantastic job… and like us all, need a vacation…
