13.1 Evergreen lifetime?

In the evergreen page it’s said that evergreen for 13.1 starts on January 2016 and ends on november 2016, but it says also that they wnat to extend lifetime of any evergreen release for at least 3 years.
Which of the two affirmations is true?

regards

openSUSE 13.1 was released in November 2013. It was anounced to be Evergreen. So when you opted for it, you would be supported for three years until November 2016. Part of this period it was supported as a “normal” openSUSE version. Evergreen support extended this until it will reach an age of 3 years.

That is how I understand it.

Please note that, again as Iunderstand it, this will be the last Evergreen version. Leap has a different way of being supported where Evergreen has no use.

openSUSE 13.1 was released on 19 November 2013

November 2016 is 3 years after November 2013

Therefore, the statement that Evergreen extended the lifecycle of chosen releases to at least 3 years is true

pre-Leap openSUSE releases are supported for ‘2 releases + 2 months’ - aka a release is supported 2 months after 2 subsequent openSUSE releases

openSUSE 13.1 was followed by 13.2 and Leap 42.1

Leap 42.2 was released in November 2015

2 months after November 2015 is January 2016

Therefore Evergreen support started from January 2016

Both affirmations are true.
