I actually just did so and the system booted fine. I’ll investigate if the issue regarding the temperature will rise again with kernel 3.7. Otherwise I hope to have it solved now.

You should also uninstall kernel 3.9.4 and install 3.9.6 instead, that’s the latest stable version. Maybe that one works better then? But be sure to keep the 3.7.10 as fallback…

Big code drop today. New PM features will be going into the 3.11 kernel … likely not enabled by default. … suspect that openSUSE 13.1 won’t get that then (it’ll likely get a 3.10.x kernel) …
