I have just installed 12.3 under vmplayer 5.02, for testing. Desktop is
XFCE.
I can hibernate the machine just fine from the vmplayer menu, but this
is something done by the virtualization software.
However, selecting suspend or hibernate from the xfce menu entries does
nothing, there is nothing in dmesg, the file /var/log/pm-suspend.log is
not even created.
Running pm-hibernate as root succeeds to hibernate, but restore crashes
the X graphical session (there is a segmentation error in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old), while remote ssh sessions keep working.
