Default install of 12.2 rc2, no additional repos. I first ran zypper patch, then did a zypper dup. Now at boot, I can’t pause grub to edit anything and grub appears to be working fine, so I think this is an X problem?
It goes to plymouth and beyond, and plymouth seems to be working better than before, the whole boot process seems smother, but then it gets to a certain point and all input seems to be locked, I can no longer switch the plymouth splash on/off using escape and it ‘freezes’ at the image about half way, if I hit esc and watch the output eventually the screen turns black and remains black. At this point hitting anything on the keyboard is useless, no FN keys work, no caps lock, etc.
I did a chroot into / from the live cd and I was able to see that xorg.conf was removed and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf has been changed as well, as I had the amd binary blob 12.2 legacy installed, and I know xorg existed, and I know the 50-device file had been changed from radeon to fglrx in devices section.
I can live by reinstalling, but I’d like to try to do some troubleshooting for the sake of development if anything.
I just notived 50-fglrx.conf was also removed which only had one line to blacklist radeon so I’m trying to restore that as well, then I will try unblacklisting radeon and removing all fglrx files.
