12.2 network install do not let you choose packages just starts installing

Hi
I’ve now installed two vmware images with opensuse12.2 from the netinstall iso.

But I’m unable to choose packages, it just starts installing. and I need to zypper around afterwards to get things properly.
I just get the standard kde desktop and around 3GB of packages. it is not a big problem, but I like to have a minimal base system,
with 11.4 I have a 350MB I use as base for our cluster application.

Is this default practice or have I missed something.

When you get to the screen with the choices of “GNOME Desktop”, “KDE Desktop”,
or “Other”, choose “Other”.

You will now get further options of “XFDE Desktop”, “LXDE Desptop”, “Minimal X
Window”, or “Minimal Server Selection (Text Mode)”. Presumably, you want either
minimal X or text mode. These options have not changed.

You could probably get back to this condition by deleting packages with YaST;
however, it will likely be quicker to reinstall.

Although I haven’t looked specifically at the Net install for 12.2, typically after you choose the type of install (eg. KDE) the summary is displayed. It may not be obvious but you should be able to click on the Software Packages which then displays the specific packages and allows you to customize. I’ve often installed that way to remove unwanted packages and immediately add packages like a LAMP stack saving time.
