12.2: file association for *.xml not working.

Have just upgraded from 12.1 to 12.2, using “upgrade from previous version”. My settings, as made under 12.1, are mostly intact - except for one file type: *.xml. I had set my preference to “kwrite” for this file type in 12.1 and it worked nicely. Since the upgrade any *.xml-file I click on in Dolphin is opened by firefox instead of kwrite. No good if I want to edit the file. Right-click and “open with / kwrite” works, but that costs some extra clicks.
Under “Desktop Settings / File Associations” kwrite is still at the top of the preferences (and firefox in 7th position!), and shifting “kate” to the top yields the same result: any *.xml file gets still opened by firefox. Any ideas? Any configuration file I should check (and perhaps edit manually)?

have you tried right clicking on the file, selecting properties and then clicking on the spanner icon and moving kwrite to the top of the list (or adding) from there to see if that makes any difference?

Yes, farcusnz, I have. Same-same: kwrite is at the top, and yet a left-click opens the file in firefox.
Thanx, anyway

perhaps take a look at

~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

and see if there is anything obvious there

for me I have this line

application/xml=kde4-kwrite.desktop;chromium-browser.desktop;kde4-kfmclient_html.desktop;firefox.desktop;writer.desktop;

where you can see kwrite is at the top of the list and opens in kwrite as intended.
