I installed 12.2 on my test disk, same hardware as in signature below,
Disk is 1TB. 12.1 is installed on a different 1TB disk. 12.1 shutsdown
everytime, 12.2 never shuts down. I have experienced this with all
versions since 11.4 first came out. In all case it was fixed during one
of the updates KDE. My 12.1 is KDE 4.8.3 (have not upgraded to 12.1
4.8.4 because of the shutdown issues in 12.2. I also have a 12.2 32 bit
system on a Compac Presario (2.5GHZ processor, 2 GB, 350GB HD) It also
refuses to shutdown completely.
I don’t think its the NVIDIA driver since its the same in all versions
of my systems.

instead of trying to find ways to work around the (apparent) bug, as a
beta tester you should be reporting the bug to bugzilla…so it can be
fixed…
however (of course) you should first determine if it is an actual bug or
maybe a setup/user problem…and, that should be done in the special
forum set up for beta testers, here: http://tinyurl.com/2du7r4s
the first thing you should do there is search to see if this problem has
been reported by others, and if so has a bug already been logged, and if
so can you add useful information to the bug (like maybe it seems to
only occur on Compac Presarios, for example)
