I downloaded openSUSE-12.2-DVD-i586.iso, checked it with md5sum, burned it to a DVD, and put it into the DVD drive of the machine I’m hoping to install or upgrade. It is a 32-bit athlon system which has been running openSUSE 11.0, KDE 4.0.4 happily for a long time.
It boots from the DVD and displays an installation menu, but there’s no response from the USB keyboard. Eventually it times out and boots from the hard drive into the regular KDE session. The keyboard works fine. I can open the DVD in dolphin and it looks OK as far as I can see.
How can I get a 12.2 installation DVD that recognises the USB keyboard?
As this worked for most people (I e.g. also have an USB keyboard and never had any problem on installing many openSUSE versions), some more information about the hardware might be useful.
good you md5 sum checked the iso, but i think you may anyway have a
faulty disk (it should let you use the usb kb!!) so, hopefully you can
use the mouse or non-usb kb to select “Check Installation Media” instead
of Install or Boot From Hard Drive…
