12.1 won't boot into KDE (hwclock-load.service error?)

I’ve just updated 11.4 to 12.1. Failsafe boots into KDE, but normal mode boots into terminal. The only thing I see in dmesg is that hwclock-load.service fails to install. Will that cause this problem? What should I do next?

It is more likely that you are having video problems, and “failsafe” puts you into a safe video mode. Look for threads on nvida and ATI graphics problems if you have either of those.
