On a EEE 1000H (12.1) I have the following repeated (ie. every few seconds) kernel messages in /var/log/messages and on the konsole that can be reached via ALT+CTRL+F1

is there anything I can do about that?

what is the problem?
that is, is the machine working ok but you see these kernel doings in
the log? or does this entry preceed a full system lock up…freeze,
or what…
what is the problem…
well, tell me: why there is a kernel in your /home directory?? are
you running it from there? how and why?
and what happens if you put the kernel where it should be and run it
from there…do these WARNINGs then stop?
and, please move to a supported version…12.1 is past end of life
and no longer receiving security updates…

it’s 12.2 not 12.1 - I made a mistake.
when working within KDE I don’t notice the kernel messages.
when I, however, try to switch to a text konsole out of kde (eg. because there is a problem with kde), it becomes unusable because of the repeated messages (even before logging in)
I don’t have a "kernel in my home directory’. I don’t know where this /home/abuild/… comes from.
there is no such user on my system

On OBS all packages are built as user “abuild”. That’s where that “/home/abuild/” comes from, it’s normal.
Regarding your kernel messages I found the following advise here: Re: Root dentry has weird name <>
Reboot should help, also check for potential NFS problems, like unreachable server.
And also other search results (including a bug report against openSUSE) indicated that a reboot should fix this.

that confuses me!
when you say “I try to switch to a text konsole” exactly how do you
do that? i ask because a “konsole” is a KDE spawned terminal, and
when it opens it should be totally still with nothing
happening…that is NO repeating messages…and, no need to log in!
well, are you maybe holding down Ctrl and Alt keys and pressing F2?
if so, that is no a ‘konsole’ you land in, it is a ‘terminal’…some
call it a ‘console’…
so are you saying you get to an F2 terminal and it is busy displaying
kernel messages?
what happens if you (instead of pressing F2) press F3?
and when you say “because there is a problem with kde” what is the
KDE problem that you are fixing in a terminal?

You have an entry somewhere in your file system with a blank name. You can
probably clean this up by booting a stand-alone or live system, and running a
forced fsck on all your partitions/file systems.
a reboot made it - thanks!
I am sure the problem will reappear, but I know now what to do.
