12.1 RC

Well after reviewing some 12.1 RC post, it seems 12.1 still has many bugs, so I think I will wait for the 14 days before I download. I can’t afford a crash and it appears many people are having crashes with the RC version. Be back in 20 days or so.

No crashes here… 12.1 RC1 GNOME 3.2.1

Yeah, it seems to generally work well for me as well, though I do have
that pesky Mediawiki issue on my laptop.

But to the OP, what “magic” do you think happens on release day? All
bugs are fixed?

Since rc2 will be out shortly, check back in a few days. I expect that most of the problems with rc1 will have gone away.

No crashes here either! I think that once you get past the installation issues (which really only seem to plague installation from DVD, as installation from LiveCD went without a hitch for me), you’d find that 12.1 is remarkably stable and very usable.

Hi
I’ve not worried about the DVD in a number of releases, just pop the
live cd onto a USB via imagewiter and away you go…

I did an install from a USB drive using the DVD (isohybrid) - with RC1,
the only issue I ran into was when it tried to do the update, it bombed
out - and it does that before configuring grub, so I had to fix that.

RC1 appears to have solved most of the install problems I had with the beta.
It’s hard to decide where to complain about the remaining problems as they
seem to be primarily KDE gotchas like failure to import kmail/knode settings
and that infuriating bug with the disappearing cursor on dropdown menus
(Nvidia video).

How do you define “crashed”? Or rather, can you be more specific about
what happened?
